On April 13, a scientific-practical seminar on the topic “Zarifa Aliyeva: Bright life, eternal memory” was held at Sumgayit State University (SSU) under the organization of the Department of History, Geography and Methodology of the Faculty of History and Geography, dedicated to the memory of the wife of the National Leader of the Azerbaijani people Heydar Aliyev, an outstanding ophthalmologist, Honored Scientist of the Azerbaijan SSR, Doctor of Medical Sciences, Professor, Full Member of ANAS Zarifa Aziz gizi Aliyeva. The seminar was opened by the Dean of the Faculty of History and Geography, Professor Adil Bakhshaliyev who provided extensive information about the scientific and humanitarian activities of the outstanding ophthalmologist, Zarifa Aliyeva. The information emphasized the selfless work of the ophthalmologist in the fight against trachoma, which spread among orphans raised in orphanages. Later, it was reported that a full member of the Azerbaijan National Academy of Sciences, Zarifa Aliyeva along with her scientific and social activities, remained in the memory of our people as a daughter who preserved family traditions, a devoted wife and a mother. The Dean of the Faculty noted that Zarifa Aliyeva will live in the history of our people as a Mother who gave our Motherland a son like President Ilham Aliyev, who established the sovereignty of the Republic of Azerbaijan throughout the country. Head of the Department of History, Geography and Methodology, Associate Professor Sona Maharramova, “Zarifa Aliyeva’s Life Path: Unity of Science, Humanism and National Values”, and a 3rd year student of the faculty, Zeynab Aliyeva, “Zarifa Aliyeva: Scientific Heritage and Services in the Development of Azerbaijani Ophthalmology” presented reports on the topics.
